The new owners of The Shores , along with several County and City Dignitaries, broke ground today on the dream of a new and improved golf course. Several New and Old Shores homeowners, along with Rockwall City Council Members and other community leaders, were in attendance for the groundbreaking and unveiling of the concepts and timeline for completion of the new golf course. Lunch was provided by the new owners for the 100 or so people who gathered to see and hear the plans presented by the owners and architects.
The new ownership consist of several entities. John Dunn, a lawyer from Oklahoma, is the main owner. Landscapes Unlimited will be responsible for the renovations under the direction of architect Jeffery Blume. Dan Traxler, a Rockwall and Shores resident, will run the tennis and pool operations. There are other financial investor owners as well. Kit Thompson will manage the golf course operations as well and the membership and club relations.
After the ground breaking ceremonies Jeffery Blume, the golf course architect hired by the owners, presented his credentials and an outline of the plan to renovate the golf course. Jeffery D. Blume is a golf course architect with over 20 years of experience and is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. During his career he has overseen the renovation of the Conroe Country Club in Conroe Texas, Riverbend Country Club in Sugarland Texas, Quail Valley Golf Course, and Hide-Away-Lake Country Club, to name a few.
The new course philosophy is to restore the Shores Golf Course to it’s previous state as the finest golf facility in Rockwall and East Dallas while taking better advantage of the sites natural setting on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard to create a course that can accommodate players of all skill levels.
John Dunn took the opportunity to thank the City of Rockwall and the Shores HOA Board for working through the issues that allowed the partners to enter into an agreement to purchase and renovate the course. Work will begin immediately with the club projected to open during the fall 0f 2011.
