The City of Rockwall sent out a press release Tuesday announcing that Landscapes Unlimited will no longer be purchasing The Shores Golf Course.
The company had reached a preliminary agreement with IRI Golf Group, the current owner, and Hillcrest Bank for purchasing the course. IRI filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed the golf course in July.
The press release stated that the news came as city officials had started working with Landscapes Unlimited on terms for a lease agreement. The city controls portions of land within the course, including the back nine holes and portions of another four.
City Manager Julie Couch stated in the release that the city didn’t have a timeline for the court’s action on the motion or for when the course might reopen. She did note that the city would continue to maintain, irrigate and mow the portions of the course under its control.
