“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” Mr. Crowley said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the City of Rockwall, and I thank the council members for their confidence.”
A national search will be conducted to fill the assistant city manager position.
Mayor David Sweet said the council was unanimous in their support of Mr. Crowley for the job.
“We narrowed it down from 61 to 20 well-qualified candidates, and we interviewed seven excellent candidates,” the mayor explained. “We thought Rick was the best choice for our city.”
“I am very excited to have Rick Crowley at the helm, and I look forward to working with him.”
A native of Hamlin, TX, Mr. Crowley came to the City of Rockwall as an administrative assistant in 1984. He then served as head of various departments until he was appointed Assistant City Manager by then City Manager Julie Couch. When Mrs. Couch was fired last year by the city council, Mr. Crowley was named to the interim position.
He holds a bachelors degree in Political Science from Texas Tech University and a masters in Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to coming to Rockwall, Mr. Crowley worked for the cities of Burleson and Colorado City.
He and his wife Lauren are the parents of Rachel, 25, and Kayla, 17.
